Before you engage
Insolvency work begins with arithmetic. Before any petition the firm, as a lawyer-CPA practice, reviews the books, the cash position, and the debt schedule to answer one question candidly: is the business worth rehabilitating, or is an orderly liquidation the more honest path. Rehabilitation is not a way to escape debt. It is a court-supervised plan to pay creditors over time, and it works only if the underlying business can. Timing matters too. The FRIA stay protects a debtor only once the court issues a commencement order, so early matters often turn on how quickly that relief can be sought.
Engagement

Questions
Not on filing alone. Under the FRIA, protection from collection and foreclosure comes from the stay or suspension order, which the court issues with the commencement order after the petition is accepted. The consultation explains what is protected, what is not, and how quickly relief can realistically be sought in your venue.
By looking at the numbers honestly. Rehabilitation suits a business that is fundamentally viable but cannot meet debts as they fall due; liquidation is the orderly path when it is not. The firm reviews the financials first and will say plainly which one the figures support, even when that is not the answer hoped for.
Represent your claim through the proceeding: file and prove it on time, examine the debtor's plan, and oppose or support it on your behalf, including creditors' committee work. Deadlines in these cases are firm and missing them can forfeit a claim, so bring the notice the week it arrives.
